My favorite |
Well this product seems to sway people all the way to one side or the other, huh? LoL not too many in-betweens. I won't try to describe the scent, that's already covered in other reviews. Count me as one of those who loves Joop! It's different from most other fragrances and in a good way. I will attest to the fact that females love it, and unfortunately for me a few guys became a little too attracted as well. This is indeed some strong stuff too, one full spray and you're good to go.

It singes one's nosehairs |
After repeat visits to the cologne counter over the course of 20 years this particular scent stands head and shoulders above the rest as being one of the most offensive odors to ever assault my olfactory senses. I keep hearing about how wonderful it is, and then thinking "maybe I should go sniff again", only to be reminded that my initial judgement was correct. The stuff just stinks.
For a long time the smell of Joop reminded me of something, but I couldn't put my finger on exactly what it was. Then one hot summer evening while closing the window I noticed a bug on the outside of the screen. This particular type of insect I've always heard referred to as "stink bugs" and when they're poked or prodded they secrete a sicky-sweet odor that I presume scares potential predators away. I got a good whiff of it when I tapped the screen to knock the bug off and thought, "Oh my goodness...it's Joop! It smells like Joop!". My nose cannot differentiate between the two odors and when I smell the stuff in public I have visions of dozens of stink bugs having found some way into whatever building I happen to be in and wreaking their particular brand of stink-assault on it's occupants.
If you enjoy the rotting-grapes smell of Joop! then my hat's off to you. Personally I think it makes the malodorous scent of Polo smell like a field of flowers, and that's no joke. |

This scent makes me swoon |

I disagree with the reviewer that said this smells like grape and musk. Joop is fruity, but it is a very complex fragrance that can not be described so simply. I love that it stands apart from most other mens scents that I have sampled. It is not citrus, water or spicy woody, but a very complex blend with top notes of berries, I think, and warm spices and rounded out with warm, rich woods and tobacco. I do not smell musk at all. It is a very warm, comforting scent that makes you want to spend the day in bed on a winter day. It is VERY stong and little goes a very long way. |

Just Takes a little getting used to |

Joop! Is a very strong, distinct fragrance. It took me a while to get used to it, use less than you think you need to. Girls seams to really like this smell, even some men comment. |

The perfume is way too fruity for my liking.. and its kinda spicy too..
